Joyce Cohen

Joyce Cohen has been a leading figure in the field of career development and life planning for the past 25 years. She consults with organizations of all sizes and leads seminars on career management, mentoring, learning organizations, creative aging, retirement planning, growth and renewal, and other topics related to successful life planning.

She has worked with over 300 companies including United Technologies, Hewlett Packard, AT&T, Ingersoll Rand, General Electric, DuPont, Colgate Palmolive, Firestone, Ford, Kodak, SNET, Honeywell, Polaroid, United Airlines, Cytec, Parke-Davis, Black & Decker, Marriott, Warner Lambert, Centocor, Ernst & Young, NPD, LandMark Corp, and EDS. Joyce has also worked with government agencies (including the Federal Reserve Bank, HUD, EPA, and the State Department) and professional associations (such as the American Society of Training and Development and the American Society on Aging). In addition, Joyce has served since 1995 on the faculty for Success Symposiums.

Joyce heads a Connecticut based consulting firm, Unconventional Wisdom*, specializing in the areas of career transition, retirement preparation, personal growth and renewal, and creative aging. She also publishes a quarterly newsletter devoted to these topics, authors a bimonthly column on life planning for the Connecticut Post web site, and contributes articles to trade publications. Joyce has developed several life planning programs and regularly presents workshops, seminars, and Training of Trainer sessions nationwide. In addition, she frequently speaks at universities about career and workforce trends.

Joyce was recognized by former Connecticut Governor William O'Neill for outstanding contributions to career education. Her innovative career programs in Connecticut public schools garnered numerous awards and many are still in use today. Joyce currently serves as a Trustee for Keuka College in New York and as a Director for the International Society for Retirement Planning. She is also a member of several professional associations including American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), American Society on Aging, (ASA), National Association of Female Executives, (NAFE), and Fairfield Network of Executive Women (FNEW).
